2012 – 2013 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program Global UGRAD

Program Description:

The Office of Academic Exchange Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U. S. Department of State, is pleased to announce a new exchange program for undergraduate students-the 2012 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD)

The Global UGRAD Program provides scholarships for one semester or one academic year of U.S. Study in a NON-DEGREE Program. The goals of the program are to provide a diverse group of emerging student leaders, from non-elite and underrepresented groups in Indonesia and East Asia.

All global UGRAD Program participants will be enrolled full-time in undergraduate course work chosen from the institution’s (US) existing curriculum to allow students ample opportunity for ongoing interaction with U.S. Faculty and student peers, and for exposure to U.S. academic and classroom culture.

To ensure that students succeed in their new academic environments, host institutions will offer tailored instruction on topics including academic research and writing, critical thinking, time management, note taking, and studying for and taking tests. Participants will live on campus with American peers.

Students will also be provided with opportunities to participate in up to ten hours of community service per semester. Additionally, an internship component will be offered to all academic-year participants during the academic component of the program. Internships will be related to each participant’s field of study and/or career plans.

Participants may be eligible for up to 4 weeks of intensive English Language instruction in the United States prior to the start of academic portion of their program.

Eligibility:

1. Scholarships will be granted to students who currently are enrolled in S-1 degree programs only, and have completed their first semester and up to their firth semester of undergraduate study at an Indonesian university.
2. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential through academic work, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.
3. Applicants must have minimum ITP/IBT TOEFL score of 500-score or IELTS 5.0 less than two years old. In some cases a personal interview by a fluent qualified Native English Speaker who can confirm that the nominee would be able to achieve that score when tested is acceptable. Candidates must also meet all the requirements of the institution where admission is being sought.
4. Preference will be given to those who have had little or NO experience in the U.S. or outside of their home countries.
5. Applications can be for either for one semester or two semesters based on nominee’s availability. No applications should be submitted for both one semester and full year programs.
6. Applicants are required to return to Indonesia after the completion of the one or two semester program.

INDONESIA ENGLISH LANGUANGE STUDY PROGRAM (IELSP)

General Information:

IIEF holds an Indonesia English Language Study Program (IELSP). It is a program that offers a chance to enroll in English Language Courses at prominent universities in the United States for a period of 8 (eight) weeks.

The goal of this program is to improve the ability of participant’s English language, especially in English for Academic Purposes. Other than that, participants will have the chance to learn intimately the people and culture of the United States. IELSP participants will join the immersion program where they will mix with other participants from other nations and countries. Within this program, participants will not only learn the English language, but they will also join various cultural programs that will enrich their experience.

Requirements:

• Participant age must be 19 – 24 years old. Participant must be an active students for bachelor degree in their 5th semester above at any universities all over Indonesia and have not yet declared pass or in the course of degree completion.
• Participant must have posses good ability in the English language with a good TOEFL® International or TOEFL® ITP with a minimum 450 (not a Prediction Test)
• Participant must also have good academic achievement Active in lots of activities and organization
• Have full commitment to return back to Indonesia after completing this program.
• Do not have experience of previous study in USA or other countries except Indonesia
• Possesses these personal qualities: active, independent, responsible, confident and open minded
• Master the skills for computer

Registration Schedule:

For the IELSP Cohort X, the completed form and accompanied by the required documents must be received by IIEF at the latest on November 18, 2011.

About Scholarships

We realize that education is one effort to improve the welfare of society and the nation in creating a better future.

Therefore, since 1984, Djarum Scholarship Plus has consistently played an active role to promote education and empowerment of students through the cultivation of high achievement, in a variety of soft skills training for Indonesian human form of disciplined, independent and insightful future as well as being a capable leader of the intellectual, emotional and spiritual.

Prospective Plus Scholarship recipients are selected Djarum strictly and must meet the requirements of IQ and EQ so that they have the emotional intelligence in the process of achievement.

In addition to tuition assistance, scholarship recipients Djarum Plus (Beswan Djarum) also receive other benefits in the form of soft skills training program, which is the excess of Djarum Scholarship Plus Program, namely by training on the concept of nationalism, character development, leadership, creativity, and several other activities in the fields of social, environmental, educational, and cultural. The goal is nothing that the Beswan Djarum Indonesia could someday be a man of disciplined, independent and insightful as a potential future leader of the nation.

Further quarter of a century past the age of the program is running, more than 7000 university students from 74 State Universities and Private Sector in Indonesia has received Djarum Plus Scholarship.

Djarum Foundation, through Djarum Scholarship Program Plus, will continue to be consistent and try to keep the commitment to achieve a future full of noble ideals. A spirit that will never cease to continue to bear the generation achievers.

Requirements to become a recipient of Djarum Scholarship Plus

GENERAL:

Going through Education Level S1 (Strata 1) of all disciplines.
Entering the V semester with a minimum GPA of 3:00 in the fourth semester.
Active follow the activities of organizations both within and outside campus.
Do not receive scholarship from other parties.

Copy of certificate of organization’s activity / organization active certificate.
Letter from the campus is not currently receiving scholarships from other parties.
