Debating Workshop April 2-6, 2012	An open English Debate Training to introduce British Parliamentary style. The aim is to gather as many as potential debaters in Universitas Bengkulu to be the representative team from UNIB in the prestigious competition; NUEDC (National University English Debating Championship) 2012.
Unib English Debating Championship April 7-8, 2012	A prestigious English Debating Championship for all students in Universitas Bengkulu. The rewards include cash, certificate and the most important is the chance to represent UNIB as a team in NUEDC 2012! Cash Rewards: 1st position : Rp 1.200.000,- 2nd position : Rp 1.000.000,- 3rd Position : Rp    800.000,- 1st Runner Up     : Rp    600.000,- 2nd Runner Up     : Rp    400.000,-
Requirements	Ø  All students who are registered in Universitas Bengkulu. Ø  To follow the competition, the participant must form a team in his own (one team consists of two persons).

EDSA UNIB is going to hold 2^nd SEC (Sumatera English Competition). There are many exiting and thrilling competitions for this year; Speech, News Casting, Scrabble, English Debate and Acoustics. These competitions are opened for those who are studying in a university/college all over Sumatera Island (except for English Debate and Acoustic). So, check it out…^^

1. Speech

Charge     : Rp 60.000,-/person

Rewards   : Cash, Certificates and Trophies.

Date        : April 16, 2012

General rules:

Ø  The speech should be delivered for about 7 minutes and in formal way.

Ø  The topics will be given in Technical Meeting. The participant chooses two of them. One will be delivered in preliminary and another one will be delivered in final round.

Ø  The competition comprises two sessions; preliminary and final round. After all the participants have delivered their speech in preliminary round, the judges will then decide 8 to 10 participants who can deliver another speech (in another topic) in the final round.

Ø  Judges’ decisions are absolute.

2. News Casting

Charge     : Rp 60.000,-/person

Rewards   : Cash, Certificates and Trophies.

3. Scrabble

Charge     : Rp 80.000,-/Team

Rewards   : Cash, Certificates and Trophies.

Date        : April 17, 2012

General rules:

Ø  One team consists of two persons.

Ø  The referent dictionary is Oxford Advance Learners Dictionary.

Ø  Each participant will be given 1 minute to think his move.

Ø  The score gained by each team members will be accumulated as the team’s score.

Ø  Judges’ decisions are absolute.

4. English Debate

Charge     : Rp 120.000,-/Team

Rewards   : Cash, Certificates and Trophies.

Date        : April 16-18, 2012

General rules:

Ø  The debate will be run in British Parliament style.

Ø  One team consists of two persons.

Ø  The participants are university/college students in all over Bengkulu Province.

Ø  The competitions comprises of four sessions; Preliminary (five matches), Octo-final Semi-Final and Grand Final round.

Ø  The teams’ standing will be determined based on their victory points (0-3).

Ø  Each speaker can deliver his speech for 7 minutes and 20 seconds.

Ø  Some impromptu motions will be used randomly.

Ø  Prepared motions will be given in technical meeting.

Ø  Case building should be done in 30 minutes before the match begin.

Ø  Adjudicators’ decisions are absolute.

5. Acoustics

Charge     : Rp 80.000,-/Team

Rewards   : Cash, Certificates and Trophies.

Date        : April 15, 2012

General rules:

Ø  The participants are those who live around Bengkulu Province regardless their education level.

Ø  Adjudicators’ decisions are absolute.
